Number One in Japan...and other stuff!

Hi there gorgeous ones, long time no speak / tweet / status update / blog / vlog etc etc etc...!

So sorry for my absence on the scene and in the world of social networks…I really wanted to make a personal message directly to those of you that leave me kind words of support and encouragement and tirelessly continue to support me and my music career.

So, here is a summary of all things Tricia!

Firstly, my big news! I had a breakthrough with a little song I wrote a while ago with a friend of mine called Jez Ashurst, from a band called Farrah. He works a lot in Japan and has a fantastic A & R woman who relentlessly pushes his work into the right hands. So, as a result, this song has found it’s way onto the Album of a respectable and talented female artist called Yuki Isoya. I’m so thrilled with this as she is quite a big deal in Japan and she shifts a fair few CD’s, in fact her album reached Number 1 and went Gold in Japan in it's first week of release!! It's currently still in the Top Ten and edging towards Platinum status!

I feel I am creeping towards my dream job title of 'Songwriter' slowly but surely.  Here is the link to the song that has now been translated into Japanese by Yuki, if you scroll down you can listen to a clip, it's track 12, called 'Onaji Te'

As most of you know, I earn my living as a singer. I perform several times every week at weddings/parties/bars etc...sometimes on my own, sometimes with my husband and sometimes with the really great function band Metropolis. FYI here is their link...I am singing on mix 1, 2 and 3 on the media page.

This takes me all over the country and back and forward to Jersey in the Channel Islands where I have gigged a lot in the past year. I love being able to sing for my supper thus avoiding the harsh realities of getting a ‘proper’ job. So I am fully appreciative of any way I can use my voice to pay my bills!

I also decided to record a few of the songs I have performed live a few times and have been well received so there are the some clips of those on the music player here on my website and my MySpace page (please don't neglect MySpace by the way, I know I have been quiet on there lately, but it really is a great place to support bands and unsigned artists!)

In between all this I've done some backing vocal work on a couple of Fab Albums.

'Great Things' by Ian McNabb

'Living Past' by Mark Lassiter

Both well worth a listen / purchase if you get the chance!

What else? I put a visual aid together for another older song of mine called Footballers Wife. Anyone who knows me knows I like to write in different styles and have a real soft spot for 'Chav Pop'!! i.e.: Champagne Shirley, which I wrote for the Dolly Rockers. Incidentally, not sure whether that’ll be on their album as they moved labels and are now gathering other material too but we’ll see…there are some cool clips of them singing it on you tube so maybe if you bombard them and tell them what an ace track it is it wont get excluded from the track listing!!! Nudge nudge, wink wink!

And last but certainly not least…is perhaps my BIGGEST news...the impending arrival of my Baby Boy in May.

I am so excited to become a Mummy. I have really enjoyed being pregnant and eating lots of things that are normally off limits! But now I am tuning into the last few weeks and ready to welcome him into our crazy world!

I can’t believe my future is to be filled with Dinosaurs and Diggers and Monsters and Robots!! Oh my!

I have signed up to take part in a half marathon in September so I’ll let you know more nearer the time about the details but I’d really love to have your support and any donations you can make to the charity I've chosen which is The Downs Syndrome Association, I'm doing it with my friend and photographer Kerry Spicer and we've set up a fundraising page at

uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/macspice

It will be my biggest challenge to date (after childbirth!)

I think that’s all for now. My life is changing so drastically at the minute. I have been decorating a baby room and shopping for prams and whilst I am thoroughly enjoying this phase in my life I really miss playing my songs live in front of you lovely people. I hope to make time to fit that in at some point. I miss you lot muchly and value your ongoing support and enthusiasm immensely.

Hope to see you soon and hear about all your goings on.

Take care

Tricia and Bump! xxx

September News

Hi Peeps!

So whats new? Well I’ve been writing away and I’m really happy with a couple of my efforts recently as I’ve written a few that I actually wanna sing myself (as opposed to pitching to other artists) which is exciting. So I’m demo-ing (is that even a word?) a couple at the moment and you shall hear the fruits of my labour V soon.

On the pitching to other Artists front..You may now be aware of the outrageous little trio of madams that are ‘The Dolly Rockers’. I wrote a song for them called Champagne Shirley. It’s very humorous and I love their version of it. If you haven’t heard it head on over to you tube and type it in. In fact, tell them it should be a single! Hehe! It should be on the forthcoming Album which is trés cool pour moi!

Another couple of my songs have been recorded by a brand new girl band managed by the X Factor superstar Louis Walsh! They are so New they don’t have a name yet but keep your ears to the ground as that could be interesting for me if that comes to fruition!

I have a couple of gigs coming up in the next few weeks in Jersey where I’ll be performing my songs along with a few of my fave covers, however as most of you know I am a gigaholic and play covers most weekends, so if anyone ever fancied coming along and shouting out a request then message me and I’ll tell you where I’m playing next!

Been running lots too…even did a 10k run the other week….just for fun! That’s insane isn’t it?! I know!

I hope to book in a few more gigs in London in the next few months so I’ll let you know when and where ASAP and hope to have a rendezvous with you in the not too distant future.

It’s my birthday on 3rd of October too…ah and my 2nd wedding anniversary on the 18th September! Lots of champagne then….I don’t know who I wrote Champagne Shirley about???!!

Bye for now xxx

Natalie Imbruglia, Prague and The Cote d'Azur!

Monaco

First news post on my new site….how exciting!

Had a hectic month of May, after a really busy couple of weeks gigging in Liverpool and the North West, including performing at the after party for the Hillsborough Memorial Game, with such Liverpool Legends as Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Alan Hansen and the likes of Craig David and Westlife(!) I then went to Jersey (UK Channel Islands not the one by New York!) and while there I got  a phonecall asking me to do a gig for Natalie Imbruglia in Prague. I played with her before Christmas last year but I had totally forgotten everything, and this was to be with a more stripped down band and a full  1 hour long set…with me singing Backing Vocals and playing Acoustic Guitar…arrrgghhh!!….so I was instantly worrying about playing the famous ‘Torn’ intro…haha!  I had to re-learn all the songs at home, my fingers were hurting from so much guitar, then to London for a few days rehearsal, then onto Prague for the gig which went great, the guys in the band were all great and Natalie is cool too, so it was a pleasure to be part of it and hopefully I’ll get to work with her again this year as she is releasing her new album soon.  Got back and had a day off before doing the Race For Life, 24 mins 58 seconds in the blistering heat, I far exceded my £50 sponsorship target and my total is now £395 so I was happy about that, and I just want to say thanks to everyone who sponsored me, it is greatly appreciated!  Then onto Nice the next day, and then to Monaco where I am writing this from.  It’s hot here too and I’ve burnt myself from not using enough sun cream, so take note people use a high SPF!  Back in the UK tomorrow, which I’m glad about, as it’s always hard to be away too long and I  try to make the most of being home as you never know what’s round the corner.  Hope you are liking the new site, new pics and some new songs coming soon.  Will be recording this month so I look forward to that, and I’m vowing to keep this news section up to date as much as I can!

Bye for now

Love

Tricia
